Milk Thistle - Silybum marianum. Tradition links the name of this plant to the flight of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus into Egypt: while fleeing, the family found shelter precisely in a thistle vegetation. It is a natural source of flavonoids, particularly silymarin, and is a source of antioxidants. It is a natural supplement useful for facilitating digestive functions, liver function, and is excellent for promoting detoxifying function. According to studies, thanks to its anti-hepatotoxic properties known since antiquity, Milk Thistle is used in cases of organic and functional liver distress, it would have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, it also has choleretic properties (i.e., it promotes bile excretion), and it would also have diuretic capabilities.

In traditional African medicine, Desmodium adscendens was used to treat liver conditions and to prevent bronchial asthma. Turmeric - Curcuma longa L., also called "Indian saffron." Turmeric exerts anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects; moreover, it seems useful both against intestinal gas and as an antimicrobial. Scientific research has shown that the basis of many of its benefits is the presence of curcumin, the molecule that gives this spice its typical orange color and which, from a chemical point of view, can be classified among polyphenolic compounds.

Schisandra chinensis, thanks to lignans, fights stress, increases liver oxygenation. It has a hepatoprotective function, thanks to its action on liver metabolism and against circulating toxins. It is an adjuvant in chronic hepatitis. It influences the endogenous antioxidant system of glutathione, underlying the reduction of fatigue sensation and the increase of physical performance.
