MELISSA (Melissa officinalis) is a perennial plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. Also known as lemon balm, it is widespread throughout almost all of Italy.
Melissa contains molecules that seem to exert a sedative and calming effect; endowed with antiviral properties (particularly against herpes labialis).
Its uses include the treatment of digestive problems (stomach discomfort, bloating, flatulence, vomiting, and colic), pain (for example menstrual pain, headache, and toothache), and psychological sphere problems (such as depression, anxiety, restlessness, sleep disorders, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder).
