ECHINACEA

It is known for its antioxidant, immunostimulant, and antiviral properties, confirmed by studies and clinical evidence. Neutralizes foreign agents Echinacea contains important active principles: glycoproteins, polysaccharides, derivatives of caffeic acid, alkaloids, flavonoids, anthocyanins, which work synergistically giving the plant its peculiar properties. In particular, echinacein, a derivative of caffeic acid, stimulates the immune system and also has antibacterial, fungicidal, and antiviral action. Echinacea reduces the symptoms of bacterial infections by blocking the release of inflammatory markers such as cytokines. It has a marked antioxidant action, eliminates free radicals, and also inhibits cellular damage (lipid peroxidation) caused by oxidative stress. Closely related to the antioxidant action is its anti-inflammatory action similar to cortisone with a broad spectrum, determined by its content of flavonoids, while the content of derivatives of caffeic acid and essential oils gives it an antibiotic and bacteriostatic action, functional in inhibiting bacterial replication. Its antiviral properties are also very important, favored by the presence of caffeic and chicoric acid, which prevent viruses from penetrating healthy cells.
