Black Currant
is the fruit of Ribes nigrum, a species belonging to the family Grossulariaceae (also known as Saxifragaceae). Native to Siberia and central and northern Europe.
The leaves, whose main components are triterpenes and a complex of polyphenols, have detoxifying and diuretic properties, and are used to promote the elimination of urea and uric acid, draining the body.
